Unisem buys land in Perak to expand semiconductor facilities

Kuala Lumpur, 24th June 2024, 12.15pm – Unisem (M) Bhd is acquiring 38 parcels of land in Gopeng, Perak for RM30.14 million in cash to expand its semiconductor packaging and testing facilities.

The plots, totaling 1.88 million sq ft, are situated directly behind Unisem’s current Gopeng facility.

The semiconductor company signed a sales and purchase agreement with vendors Sungai Raya Development Sdn Bhd, Poh Yoke Lan, and Low Yoon Chin on Friday to finalize the acquisition, as per its filing with the bourse.

Unisem stated that the acquired land will support the Gopeng plant by providing additional parking spaces and employee hostels. The company believes this acquisition will positively impact its growth.

The acquisition is expected to be finalized within three to six months.

On Friday, Unisem’s shares increased by four sen or 0.96%, closing at RM4.21, resulting in a market capitalization of RM6.82 billion. Year-to-date, the stock has risen over 27%.
